I don’t understand how to find the clue for the journal. I had to use the walkthrough to get it, but I don’t get how we’re supposed to figure it out.

That clue is indeed quite symbolic and open to interpretation.The engraved phrase:
“My ……. was my downfall. It is she who seals my story.”
refers to one of the seven deadly sins.In the cursed world of pirates, they sail across the seas chasing treasure, looting gold, and sinking ships all for one thing: avarice (extreme greed for wealth).
It’s not just a sin… it’s what doomed the ship’s captain. That avarice sealed his fate and his journal.We appreciate your insight and will keep this in mind to balance challenge and clarity. Thanks for playing!
